The venerable Maria was born in 1463 to noble and wealthy parents, of the Richenza lineage, who gave her in marriage at the age of fifteen to Giovanni Longo (Lonc), who was chancellor of the counsel of King Fernando II of Aragon...

The prodigious healing found her ready to thank God, and she made a special "vow of charity towards the sick" with the hope that God would help her in all ways to achieve her goal in the Neapolitan land.

"She committed and dedicated herself to the service of the poor in the hospital of the incurables, not only with work and manual services but even with their wealth and patrimony. She contributed a lot to the support of the hospital and to the poor".

Miraculous Cure of Sor María Querubina Pirro

For the beatification of the Venerable Servant of God María Lorenza Longo, the Postulation of the Cause presented the supposed miraculous cure, attributed to her intercession, from "chronic pleuropulmonary tuberculosis with aphysiogenic evolution and extrapulmonary location" to the examination of the Congregation. The event took place in 1881 in Naples (Italy).
